Import a blog
For a blog on Blogger (including one at a blogspot.com address) or on WordPress — WordPress.com or your own WordPress site.
1. Export your blog from Google
Blogger lets you download your whole blog with Google Takeout. It takes a few minutes, and Google emails you when it's ready.
- Open takeout.google.com and sign in with the account that owns the blog.
- Click Deselect all, then tick Blogger.
- Click Next step, choose file type .zip, and click Create export.
- When Google's email arrives, download the file. Keep it as it is — there's no need to unzip it.
1. Export your blog from WordPress
- In your WordPress dashboard, open Tools → Export.
- Choose All content and click Download Export File.
- A WordPress.com site with more than about 1,000 posts emails you a .zip instead — download it, there's no need to unzip it.
If your site is private, make it public until your Archive shows the photos copied; you can make it private again after.
2. Add the downloaded file
Drop your export here — Blogger's Takeout .zip (every part if Google split it), or WordPress's .xml file (or the .zip WordPress.com emailed).
Only your blog's export file is sent to us, and we keep a private copy of it with your project — drafts and readers' comments included.
Your export has more than one blog. Which one do you want?
3. Choose what to bring in
We recommend one year per project: each book is made from one project's Archive, and a year makes a good book. You can come back for more months later — posts already imported are skipped.
4. Importing
Photos are copied into your Archive over the next few minutes. Until a post's photos are all in, it reads "Copying photos" in your Archive, and it joins your books once they are.
